This webinar will address New Jersey's approach to licensing companies involved in sports wagering, testing the equipment utilized, and minimizing integrity concerns. It will address the differences between investigating sports wagering companies and land based casinos, including where new types of companies fit in the traditional licensing model. In addition, the webinar will highlight the various components of both retail and online sportsbook systems that are evaluated prior to go-live. Finally, the webinar will cover how New Jersey approves sporting events for wagering and how regulators protect the market from integrity concerns.

Afshien Lashkari currently serves as a Lead Engineer of the Technical Services Bureau at the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement. He oversees staff that is responsible for ensuring the integrity of all electronic gaming equipment utilized in New Jersey including Internet gaming and sportsbook systems. In addition to being a key member of the Division's team that was responsible for launching Internet gaming platforms, sportsbook system launches, as well as creating the regulatory framework that currently governs sportsbook platforms in the state of New Jersey, he also oversees the on-going enhancements to Internet gaming and sportsbook systems to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Michael Golub is a Deputy Attorney General with the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement. He primarily focuses on the licensing of companies seeking to do business with the casinos and has experience investigating iGaming and sports wagering companies. Recently, he helped draft New Jersey’s sports betting regulations and has a role in developing and monitoring the State’s sports betting ntegrity policies. He is the lead attorney on approving sports wagering events in the State. Michael is a graduate of The College of William and Mary and American University: Washington College     of Law. He was recognized by Global Gaming Business Magazine in 2018 as one of the “40 under 40” emerging leaders in gaming.
