Illinois Sports-Betting Bill Keeps Eye On U.S. Supreme Court

After avoiding gambling legislation for almost five years, the man considered to be the most knowledgeable lawmaker in Illinois on casino issues has jumped back into the mix with a bill to legalize and regulate sports betting.

Democratic state Representative Lou Lang seems to be deliberately downplaying expectations about his bill, which he submitted on January 4 to the Illinois House clerk’s office.

“It’s just what we call a shell bill. There’s no substance to it. There’s no guts to it,” Lang told Gambling Compliance on Tuesday. Click here to read more.
