Sports Betting - NBA Signs Sports Betting Sponsorship Deal With MGM
The National Basketball Association has reached a deal to make MGM Resorts its official sports betting partner, the two announced Tuesday, in a deal the NBA hopes will establish the commercial value of its intellectual property for sports betting.
The deal allows MGM Resorts International to use the NBA and WNBA marks, branding and official data, “on a non-exclusive basis,” in its sports betting products both in brick-and-mortar casinos and digitally, the two said.
In turn, the casino and hotel company will be promoted across the NBA's digital outlets, including its cable network, NBA TV; its website, NBA.com; as well as the NBA app and social media accounts, they said. Importantly under the deal, both the NBA and MGM will share real-time data to protect the integrity of the games, helping flag suspicious betting activity or other signs that teams or athletes are fixing outcomes.
