NAGRA and UNLV’s International Center for Gaming Regulation Collaborate to Provide Education, Training, and Regulatory Guidance for NAGRA Members

NAGRA is pleased to announce its collaboration with UNLV’s International Center for Gaming Regulation (ICGR). The ICGR is a new academic facility established to promote regulatory excellence and best practices in gaming regulation.  There are three central missions of the ICGR – research, education/training, and advice.

ICGR is led by Andre Wilsenach, who is a former regulator having regulated both terrestrial and online gaming over a period of 24 years in South Africa and Europe.  Andre is joined by Jennifer Roberts, who practiced gaming law for 13 years prior to joining the ICGR and is an adjunct professor of gaming law at UNLV and Utah law schools.

Since its formation in January, the ICGR has offered courses for regulators and agency staff in Las Vegas on Pre-Licensing Investigations; Fundamentals of Gaming Regulation; Essentials of Gaming Law and Regulation; and Understanding Sports Betting.

With this collaborative effort between NAGRA and the ICGR, NAGRA members will receive a discounted rate on ICGR courses.  NAGRA will update the membership on courses that are being offered.  The ICGR is also available to offer customized educational programs to be delivered regionally or at a specific NAGRA member agency location.  The ICGR will continue to develop courses and encourages feedback from NAGRA members on topics and areas of education and training that will serve them.

The ICGR is also equipped to provide guidance on regulatory developments in a jurisdiction.  If a NAGRA member is considering the regulation of new technologies or gaming types, the ICGR can advise on incorporating these into the regulatory framework of your jurisdiction.

Finally, the ICGR will be part of the annual NAGRA conference in Orlando, Florida on June 6-8, 2017.
